It's been a while since our latest mailing, apologies for that but we've been busy making delicious beer! We've got a flurry of our hoppy ales bottled and back in stock with quite a few with improved recipes!
First off we'd like to introduce our brand new Hoppy Pale Ale, the Brew Haus Martin!
The Isle of Arran Brew Haus Martin - 4.6% ABV
The Brew Haus Martin is best described next to our Arran Blonde, featuring a slight increase in bitterness and overall hoppiness. Our Head Brewer who describes himself as an expert in beer tasting tells us that it tastes quite like a lager while others say it is closer to an IPA, either way it's delicious!
This beer is supposed to be a one off small batch seasonal available for this summer only however after receiving a lot of great feedback and proving to be extremely popular both in our brewery shop and around the Island it may well become one of our staple beers in the future!
Inspired by the Haus Martins that nest all over our brewery, we found this wee chick outside the backdoor of the brewery during a brew. After our Yorick finished panicking we manged to enlist the help of one of our lovely Arran Rangers who after a short investigation located the correct nest and bravely climbed up the side of our brewery returning the chick to it's home!
We later found out that this particular chick and nest were actually Swallows and not Haus Martins but we'd already decided we liked the pun.....
Next up and back in stock for the first time in two years (thanks to our 2024 boiler issue). The Arran Ego is back with a new and improved recipe!
The Ego has always been a stereotypically hoppy American IPA and nothing about that has changed! We've just been experimenting with some new American hops this year and think we've really cracked the combination!
This updated beer features a lovely and sweet hop aroma whilst maintaining a lovely but balanced bitterness. Bursting with flavour but maintaining a much more sessionable ABV than your standard IPA.
We've also got a slightly new label design which will be coming on our next bottling run!
Last but by no means least we've got our old friend The Brewery Dug back in stock for the first time this year.
A somewhat poignant brew for us this year as it's our first time brewing the Brewery Dug since we lost our famous mascot last spring, it's been a relief to pull off a successful brew under our new Brewery Pup's guidance in memory of our old pal.
We've made a few updates to the Brewery Dug this year, we've changed the source of the Hops we use to Dry Hop this beer to a full fledged British Cascade! This means our British IPA is fully British and now really stands apart from your everday generic IPA.
Featuring full bodied hoppy flavours rather than the flowery aroma you get from American hops, this old classic is still rocking!
We've also after 10 years used up all of our labels that incorrectly labelled this beer as an American IPA so you'll start seeing correct labels soon! Huzzah!
That's all for this update and we've focused almost entirely on our Hoppy Pale Ales in this newsletter but for those of us who are fans of the darker malts we've got some good news too.
Both the Arran Dark and Red Squirrel have been brewed and are just awaiting bottling so will be with us again soon!
We've also got another beer that has been brewed secretly by our Head Brewer and another smaller furrier collaborator in an attempt to usurp the current ruling structure of this brewery.
Coming soon.......
