Hello everyone, it's time for a post Storm Éowyn update from us at Arran Brewery!

You will all be glad to here that we've survived with only a few scrapes. bumps and lost tiles.

As of writing this update our little hamlet of Cladach is still without power due to a fallen tree but hopefully we will all be up and running soon.

In the meantime please bare with us with while we try to process orders in the dark (and with no printers) also please note our telephone line will be down until power is restored.

We also posted a small update about Red Squirrel(s) which you can read about here:

In other news, amongst the storm we've got our latest batches of beer bottled and ready to go!

See what we've got below!

(Red Squirrel and Sunset will be back soon too!)

With no lights at the Brewery we sent Yorick home to snap a picture with the waves of Whiting Bay!

After a long hiatus, Arran Fireside is back!

Fireside is one of our old classics but for logistical reasons (broken boilers....) hasn't been brewed for quite a few years.

A fantastic winter beer which I am often asked about by visitors to our shop, this brew is designed, funnily enough, for drinking by the Fireside!

With a rich chocolatey base, blended with a light refreshing "hoppiness" normal saved exclusively for the Arran Blonde, the most notable feature of this beer is the addition of ginger essence!

Personally I love it! Hence why I've brought it back albeit with a bit more ginger than usual!

Get yours now!

We've also got some Clyde Puffer back in stock for the first time this year!

This year's Clyde Puffer is a slight variation on the classic recipe, simply put; at the time of brewing we were out of Roasted Barley..... (a heavily roasted dark malt) so we substituted in some of our absolute favourite Chocolate Malt.

It's given this particular brew a lovely well rounded chocolatey-ness whilst maintaining the sweetness provided by the use of oats. Overall I'm quite happy with it.

Try some and let us know what you think!

A Winter Blonde?

Finally we've got a freshly bottled brew of the legendary Arran Blonde. This particular batch is particularly smooth and sessionable.

We suspect that this is due to the particularly cold weather we had over December, your fermenting temperature can have quite a difference on your end flavour! (hotter temperatures tend to produce a more fruity and/or bitter flavour)

At The Isle of Arran Brewery we use very traditional techniques and equipment, most importantly our old fashioned Open Top Fermenters with which we don't actively control the temperature during the fermentation process. (we do have a little bit of control but you will have to visit for a tour for more info!) This lack of control allows for little variations in every brew, something I've always thought adds character to the brewing process and certainly is something I celebrate and enjoy as a traditional Brewer!

This batch is also the first with our brand new Blonde labels for all you collectors out there!

See you next time!

That's everything for this update, don't forget to use the January DIscount while it lasts!
