Spring Arrivals and Summer Woes!

Hop in for one of our classic semi-irregular updates where we tell all about our new arrivals, news and summer woes!

Extending the Award Streak Early!

One of our proudest achievements at Arran Brewery is that we've won at least one award for our Ales every year for the past 25 years. (For sure now after we found the missing award from 2004!). However that does make it a bit more stressful for Yorick when it's getting to the end of the year that he might be the brewer to break the streak. This year however is stress free! We've already won our first award of 2026 and it's a big one!

Bronze for Blonde at BeerX!

After securing a Scotland Silver late last year our Classic Arran Blonde qualified for the National Finals of the Indie Beer Awards at BeerX 2026!

Much to our pleasant suprise we walked away with a Bronze! The old girl is still going strong!

We were supposed to hang around for some promotional photographs but we didn't expect to win and we were already halfway up the M6 when they announced the results.....

Spring Arrivals!

We've had a few exciting arrivals this spring including some of our beers not seen for a few years, but first we'll start with the furriest one....

A New Apprentice Dug!

We've finally "hired" a new apprentice! We are only a small team here at Arran Brewery and with the sudden onset of summer this year we've been stretched thin, Freyja has been doing her best to help out with her Brewery Pup duties but we've decided it's time for another helping hand!

Introducing Bjorn - the as yet untitled new Dug at Arran Brewery!

Bjorn will be trained up over the summer months with his own Isle of Arran Beer to follow shortly and with the Arran Id having had a recipe revamp and with us using up all of our old we labels we think Bjorn is the perfect fit to take the brand under his wing from now on, however we do have a small problem....

We can't decide on a name for Bjorn's beer.....

We pondered and thunk, brainstormed and sought inspiration and we've come up with two options to choose from:

1. The Isle of Arran - Bjorn to Brew

2. The Isle of Arran - Bjorn Brewer

Please help us decide by casting your vote in the poll below!

Beer, Glorious Beer!

Don't worry the new Dug isn't the only think we've got for you this time, Yorick has also been busy and we've got a fine selection of our darker beers!

Clyde Puffer

After a hiatus over winter the Clyde Puffer has made it's way back to our glasses! After the success of last years recipe tweak we've not had to change much, and we managed not to block up the heat exchanger this time, Yay!

Find it here!

Sleeping Warrior

Our old friend the Sleeping Warrior has graced us with it's presence once again. We didn't get round to brewing this last year as it's by far our most difficult and costly brew, however after so many requests we've brought it back for 2026!

Stock up!

Id

With a new and improved recipe which has been described by Yorick as the best beer he has every brewed, the Id returns for one last time before Bjorn takes control!

Everything we wanted from a Black IPA, we used some new (for us) techniques with our hops on this one and we are very proud of this brew.

Try Me!

Summer Woes.

Unfortunately it's not all good news this time round. Much to our dismay our steam boiler has been rendered permanently out of action.

Technically we could put it together and run it again but the chance of it exploding and killing Yorick is quite high and while we'd be quite happy to risk Yorick's life for the sake of great beer we're not so sure the life insurance policy would pay out... err...we mean safety comes first!

As you can imagine, this does leave us in a bit of a pickle, as with no boiler we can't make any more beer. We do have a few ideas to replace said boiler but these will all take time and come at significant expense That being the case we please ask you to be patient with us if certain beer stocks dwindle this summer.

The good news is the last brew completed before our terminal boiler inspection was a brew of blonde to complete a run of approximately 30000 bottles which should keep up going for a good while! We also have some more Arran Dark and Milestone on the way to bolster our stocks, and excitingly our brand new beer the "Brew Coo" managed to sneak its way out before the catastrophe so we can all look forward to that!

Coming soon....

That's all for now, see you next time!
